The Ministry of Justice is increasing 171 court and tribunal fees from April to “account for changes to the Consumer Price Index (CPI).”
The majority of the fees in scope are increasing by 3.2% to reflect the change in CPI between March 2023 and March 2024. This means that the cost of writs will rise from £78 to £80.
The increases do not include any changes to the High Court enforcement fee scale, which has now been frozen for 11 years since 2014 despite a Ministry of Justice recommendation that the fee scale should be reviewed annually in line with inflation.
